It was a good time while it lasted but sometimes good things have to come to an end!

Soundcult has been a lot of things over the years, but the world of music as changed, and its not a lack of trying its a lack of audience, less and less people are visiting the world wide web and even less are looking for music reviews, nowadays its all spotify/apples/basecamps/youtubes… its all silos, people don’t check reviews they are fed recommendations and therefore what’s the point, even if it was a pleasure it would be a pleasure mostly for me ;D

And thats what i did for a lot of years, but i wanna clean up my portfolio, wanna re-focus on whats cool and whats important and let go of dead weight, i wanna thank Morgana, NEBULOUS and meth for all the help over the years and of course all of you for the visits and comments even if some were really nasty hahahah, thats ok!

Now 2 things are going to happen, first im gonna publish a bunch of reviews from me and Morgana that were on the backburner for years, also im gonna make a couple of reviews that i really wanted to make of old school stuff that I love and wanted to share (soundcult was more about whats new, not whats old, so i never took the time to go back), and why am I doing this? Well because the site wont die! Im just dropping the domain and putting this site and more sites on s2r.org, probably it will go on soundcult.s2r.org im going to turn the site static, put a nice faster theme with good mobile, remove extras and that’s it, so the site won’t go away, it will just stay like this forever! Its a good send off! I hope it will still be useful for a long time, like a metallic tasting time capsule :)

Also these are some of the albums that were sent my way (by mail) that i never made a review! Sorry about that! I’ll leave some promo here forever! ;D The digital versions, well those are in the thousands… so no point, little effort, little reward… if you did send and i didnt make a review or post a promo here… so sorry, really its life, but im sorry :P

Serpico – Shallow Mistress, well well, these finnish rockers know their way around some proper hard rock, none of that fancy bullshit just good old fashioned rock n roll with attitude. Shallow Mistress was their 2014 debut and damn if it didnt make some waves, ranking 5th in Levykauppa X’s new bands poll. The boys play that classic rock meets hard rock sound, not trying to reinvent the wheel just making it roll better, you know what i mean? Its got groove, its got balls, and Vee Dour can actually sing without sounding like hes gargling glass. Check out www.serpico-official.com for the goods or grab it wherever you buy your rock records, cause this one deserves a spot in your collection, trust me on this one.

Jigsaw Analogy, hummmm not much here, they do have a Soundcloud account, so here ya go Jigsaw Analogy :P

Empress CC! delivers some seriously weird electronic madness with Nymphomania, this crazy mix of breakbeat, industrial noise and whatever the hell else she could throw in there. This Sisi Eva Yuan character creates this mental 8-track journey that sounds like what would happen if Aphex Twin got into a fight with some rave kids in an abandoned warehouse. She calls herself some kind of “shamanic breakbeats” collector or whatever, which honestly sounds pretentious as fuck but the music actually backs it up. Check up Empress CC!

History of Guns – Whatever You Do, Don’t Turn Up at Twelve, Hehe so heres the deal, these UK boys have been cranking out weird industrial goth electronic shit for years now and their 4th album is like a confusing mess in a good way. What can i say, they mix everything, punk, industrial, dance, NIN type stuff all thrown into the blender, its kinda refreshing but can get a bit much, like they cant decide what they wanna be so they just be everything. Its good though, especially if youre into that underground UK industrial scene thing, you know the type where bands think they’re too cool to just stick to one sound hehe. Check them out! History of Guns!

Well well well, Torchia from Finland hehe, these boys play some solid melodic death metal, and “Ending Beginning” is their second demo from 2015, not bad at all for some dudes from Tampere. Its got that classic swedish melodeath feel but with a bit more technical edge, kinda like if In Flames met some hardcore influences halfway through their journey, you know what i mean? The production is pretty damn crisp for a demo, and they dont go overboard with the melodic parts like some bands do, they keep it balanced between the brutal and the catchy.

Well well, Slaughterra – Lugengerz, hehe so i got some bad news for ya, turns out i was looking for “Lugengerz” as an album but actually “Lügenherz” is their 2016 album, not “Lugengerz” – close but not quite there, these German boys from Landau switched up their sound over the years from death/thrash to more melodic metalcore with German lyrics, pretty solid actually, they had this whole mental health message thing going on with “Wir wollen mit euch weinen & mit euch wachsen!” which is pretty cool if you ask me. Band just called it quits in 2025 after 12 years which is a bummer. Their website is slaughterra.com but you can snag their stuff on Bandcamp or check their Soundcloud if you wanna give em a listen before they fade into metal history.

Monolith – From Beneath Billows, Well well Norwegian boys from Oslo doing their thing with some atmospheric sludge metal, hehehe, post-hardcore mixed with that progressive stuff, you know the drill, very moody and dark as hell, but oh so captivating. These guys really know how to create that suffocating atmosphere that just pulls you in and doesnt let go, tracks are like 10 minutes long, which is kinda testing your patience but hell if it isnt rewarding when you stick through it. If youre into that Isis, Neurosis kind of vibe but want something with more norwegian gloom and beauty, then Monolith is your fix. Check out their website frombeneathbillows.com or grab it from places like Grau Mailorder if you want to support these atmosphere masters.

The Proctors – Everlasting Light, well what can i say about these british indie pop folk, hailing from the West Midlands they play some sunbathed jangly guitar pop that kinda reminds me of the kind of music your older brother used to listen to back in the day, hehehe. This Everlasting Light is their 2013 release and its coated in those incredibly catchy choruses with some nice indie rock arrangements, nothing too groundbreaking but hey its pleasant enough stuff, the kind of album you put on when you want something light and easy going. If your into guitar pop with a bit of jangle and dont mind some laid back vibes then check them out at theproctors.bandcamp.com or grab it from Tower Records if you still shop there.

Mare Cognitum – An Extraconscious Licidity, hehe yeah i know i butchered the name, its one of those space cosmic atmospheric black metal deals, the one-man project Jacob Buczarski from Portland decided to do some cosmic black metal thing. Its like if Emperor got really stoned and started gazing at stars for too long hehehe, got those melodic tremolo parts mixed with some nasty blast beats, and the guy actually knows what hes doing. The album drags you through some 6 lengthy tracks about 49 minutes total, with names like “Collapse Into Essence” and “Degeneracy Pressure” yeah real cheerful stuff. Check out their Bandcamp at marecognitum.bandcamp.com where you can grab it, or hit up some distros like Metal Odyssey if you want the physical thing.

And thats it! Thanks for everything and see you all around! Take it easy fuckers…

ps: if something is broken go find me at s2r.org, the site is static and there won’t be any updates, but I want the site online and working, so if something is wrong, please tell me and I will eventually fix it hehehe :D
