For some obscure reason, I had the Italian ANTROPOFAGUS as a cult Splatter-Gore-Grind band. Then again, it can always happen that names are closely similar to each other in some such genres. My expectations were somewhat defrauded, as the album turned out to be quite repetitive and, in a way, devoid of feeling. I will admit that it has partly to do with a virtually error-free drum machine ~ it does not sound authentic enough.

On the other hand, closer attention seems to have been paid to some other details and, despite the length of track one (the 6-minute long Fucking A Baphomet Made of Flesh ~ God & Mor), there is a lot of variation and the song ends up getting interesting. Every now and then, there are some surges of not very humanly possible breaks.

The main problem is, neither do the second nor the third track succeed in being as convincing as the first one.

Not musically speaking, a word of un~praise should herein be ‘sent’ to these guys for not having had any scruples whatsoever in plagiarising the original Reek of Putrefaction (CARCASS) cover, what with the collage of the body parts and whatnot. Should this be a statement of intent, then I was certainly ill~impressed by the blunt plagiarism.
