Grim Black Metal in the old DARKTHRONE vein ~ slightly different vocals, somehow ‘better’ played and definitely more interesting and with higher quality (whatever the standards may be) than the most recent DT releases.
ARMAGEDDA is a relatively young band ~ having been formed in the year 2000 (under the moniker VOLKERMORD), they released the demo Volkermord and a split demo with the band SVARTHYMN. Their debut CD came out in 2001.
Apparently, the collective know what they are doing (or have previous experience), for this is a highly satisfying album, again better than their masterminds’ latest efforts. Generally speaking, songs are varied, from slow passages with double bass to more aggressive parts with slit threatening vocals. The elements that compose the Final War Approaching will most likely suit the dark BM heart.
There is naturally one bad aspect to the album, and that is the the cover. The bloody picture is awful ~ what with all the pose and chin out, the guy looks a lot more like good old Kermit the Frog. Come to think of it, it is only green that is lacking.
